The incident occurred around 3 p.m. Sunday, March 10 on the 18300 Block of Lost Knife Road in Gaithersburg. Two Baltimore men are facing multiple charges for possession of child pornography, state police announced Thursday, April 11. The investigation, launched by the Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Unit in March, led to the execution of a search warrant at the Baltimore home of Robert M. Sherer, 41, and Robert W. Books, 54, on Wednesday, authorities said. Police have issued an alert for a Montgomery County teen they say has been missing for more than a week. Zakur Brown, 16, was last seen near the 300 block of Flannery Lane in Silver Spring on Monday, April 1, the Montgomery County Police Department said April 10. Zakur is about 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs 120 pounds, and has brown eyes and black hair styled in locs, police said. No clothing description was available. Police have identified the innocent driver killed by a wrong-way car thief during a police pursuit on I-695 earlier this week. Dimeka Thornton, 37, of Windsor Mill, was operating an Acura TSX when she was struck by a driver in a stolen car in the outer loop, on the ramp to Exit 18 to Liberty Road around 12:15 a.m. Monday, April 8, the Maryland Attorney General's Office said in a release.
