ITA Rankings Place Concordia Men’s Tennis 15th, Women 28th in DII

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has ranked the Concordia College men’s program is 15th in NCAA Division II while the women are 28th in the latest team and individual rankings on the national and regional level.

At the national level the women jumped one spot to their current ranking of 28th overall in DII as junior Costanza Mecchi is the 26th-ranked singles player in the nation. Additionally, Mecchi alongside sophomore Huai-Hsuan Huang are the 15th-ranked duo in the country. 

Within the East Region of DII, the women are third behind NYIT and Queens. Mecchi is the second-ranked singles player in the region while senior Linda Eliasson is ninth, and Huang is 14th. In the doubles rankings Mecchi and Huang are the second-ranked duo while junior Stefanie Canals-Baker and Eliasson are 10th. 

On the men’s side, the team dropped from eighth to 15th in the national rankings as sophomore Jui Mao is the 28th-ranked singles player in DII and senior Rafael Ferreira is the 31st-ranked singles player in the nation. In doubles, senior Ofir Ginat and Mao are now eighth in the country. 

The program remains as the top team in the East Region as NYIT is second and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference rival Chestnut Hill is third. 

In singles, five of the top six positions belong to Concordia with Mao and Ferreira occupying the top two respective spots. Senior Lorenzo Montegiorgi is fourth, Ginat is fifth, and freshman Alessandro Evangelisti is sixth. 

For the doubles rankings Mao and Ginat are first, Evangelisti and Ferreira are second, and freshman Luca Corigliano and Montegiorgi are sixth.
