C.U.C.D. Hosts Youth Basketball Fundraiser

TUCKAHOE, N.Y. –The Children Understanding Cultural Difference basketball program will host its First Annual Breakfast Fundraiser to benefit its seventh and eighth grade youth basketball teams on Jan. 29 at The Quarry Restaurant in Tuckahoe.

The C.U.C.D, program serves boys from Bronxville, Tuckahoe and Eastchester in a unique sports atmosphere that stresses unity and understanding between the players and their communities. Donald Gunther, C.U.C.D. founder and coach, began the basketball venture last year.

“This is the program’s second year and as we move forward during these economically challenging times a lot of sports programs in our schools are being eliminated due to budget cuts,” Gunther said. “We all hope this doesn't make its way to our district and or community. However, our program must be sustained through these challenging times.”

The fundraiser is being supported by The Quarry’s owner Dominic Cesarini, who is hosting the event and has been a supporter C.U.C.D from its inception. Team moms Maria McHugh, Dawn Risci, Wendy Wise, Peggy Belles and Dottie Karanthasis are also helping to plan the event.

Advanced tickets for the event are priced at $20 for adults and $15 for children under the age of 10. Tickets purchased at the door are $25 for adults and $15 for children under the age of 10.
