Bronxville Varsity Soccer Beats Saunders

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Bronxville Broncos Varsity soccer team scored more goals in the first half but they played better in the second half, according to Jack Aherne's assessment.

"We had a rough start because we were not communicating well and running the way we do in practice, but we turned it around," said Aherne, the team captain.

The Broncos bested Saunders High School with a score of 3 to 0 in the Thursday afternoon outing. Assistant Coach Micahael Cupertino said the team is solid, with sweeper Jack Dennen and returning goal keeper Jack Connors.

"We have seven wins, one loss and one tie," Cupertino said.

But the big game for the Broncos will happen next week when the team takes on Pelham High School.

"It's going to be a tough game,” Cupertino said. "Last time we played it ended in a tie."

The Broncos must beat Pelham in order to get closer to win the division But Aherne said he has no intention of losing to Pelham.

"We have a few plays have been working on in practice all season," Aherne said. "We plan to win."
