This was the first league championship held at the high school level. During the weekend of March 2 at Chelsea Piers in Stamford, the Bronxville A team topped Division II, and the B team took top honors in Division III.

Although the team is in its fourth year, this is the first time the Bronxville team was recognized as a varsity sport.

The A team played some of its finest squash of the season, making it all the way to the finals, where it took a 5-2 win over Fairfield to claim the title. The B team rolled through the competition en route to a title of its own.

More than 100 high school players participated in the tournament, with teams coming from Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan and Rye.

Kim Morse, organizer of the Bronxville squash program, said the tournament was important because the High School National Tournament had been canceled due to a snowstorm.

“This was the only time all the teams in the league got together,” she said. “It was wonderful that these players who worked hard all season were able to finish the season out with the high level of competition experienced.”
