Bronxville Girls Race to Victory at Pirate Relays

PEARL RIVER, N.Y. – The Bronxville girls’ outdoor track and field team hit the spring season running Saturday at the Pirate Relays on a rainy and cool day at Pearl River High School.

Led by its winning 4x400 and 4x800 relay teams, the Broncos girls placed in the top spot overall with 85 points, 11 better than second-place finisher Monroe-Woodbury. North Rockland ran third with 56 points.

Congratulations to all on a great team victory,” Bronxville coach Jim Mitchell said. “Every girl at the meet contributed points to the victory. The day was terrible, but the effort was superb and all should feel gratified with their performances. Special congratulations to the winning 4x400 and 4x800 teams.”

Lucy Kohlhoff, Courtney Campbell, Amelia Phillips and Hillary Rizzo combined for a time of 4:12 to win the 4x400 with teammates Jordan Sears, Jess Tighe, Grace Naef and Grace Vetromile taking fourth in a time of 4:27.

Campbell, Phillips, Rizzo and Emilie Hoffer took the track for the 4x800 relay, turning in a time of 9:44.4 to win the event. Sears, Claire McGonigle, Naef and Vetromile finished in third place in a time of 10:41.9.

Jess Tighe, Jamie Carroll, Caroline DePaul and Delia Hayes came in second in the sprint medley relay in a combined 4:29.7 for second place. In the shuttle hurdles, Fiona Roediger, Elise Weir and Ana Timoney clocked a time of 53.9 to finish second.

The Broncos visit Eastchester Tuesday for a dual meet.
