Meet Your Bronxville School Board Candidates

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Three candidates will battle it out for two open seats in the Bronxville School Board elections on Tuesday.

Incumbents David Brashear and Denise Tormey will be challenged by newcomer Ruth Wood after being selected by the Bronxville Committee for the Non-Partisan Nomination (NPC) last month.

Brashear has been a Bronxville resident since 2007. He has one son that has graduated from the Bronxville School District and three other children currently enrolled in the district. He is the president of Edgewood Investors, a firm he began in 1999. Brashear is the current president of the Bronxville Board of Education.

Tormey has lived in Bronxville for 25 years. She has three children who graduated from the district and a daughter who is a senior at the high school. Tormey is a partner at a global law firm. She serves on the Board of Directors at Kids Enjoy Exercise Now and the Board of the Community Fund of Bronxville-Eastchester-Tuckahoe.

Ruth is a former executive director of the Bronxville Chamber of Commerce. She has lived in the village since 1992. Ruth has served on the Executive Board of the Bronxville Youth Lacrosse Association, was chair of the PTA Executive Board and has worked for the Chamber of Commerce.

Voters can choose their candidate between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
