Since the previous three-year contract expired on June 30 last year, representatives from both the district and the teacher’s association (BTA) have been collaborating on a new contract that is equitable for both parties.
The new contract covers the time period from July 1, 2013 when the previous agreement terminated, through June 30, 2017.
According to joint release from officials, “the parties reached an agreement that provides for a fair and equitable settlement for the BTA membership and a fiscally responsible contract for the taxpayers of this community.”
Bronxville Superintendent of Schools David Quattrone lauded his peers on the BTA for what proved to be more than a yearlong negotiation.
“I want to thank BTA President David Katz and the rest of the BTA’s negotiating team for their hard work, commitment and dedication to reaching an agreement that recognizes and appreciates the contributions of our teachers and the financial challenges that the district faces now and in the future,” he said.
Board of Education President Denise Tormey noted that the agreement will allow the teachers and administrators to provide the best education possible for the future of Bronxville.
“(This is) a settlement that allows all of us to focus on our most important goal: making the educational experience of each and every Bronxville student the best that it can be,” she said.
Katz reciprocated Quattrone’s words noting that while it was a difficult negotiation, the process was transparent and fair for all parties involved.
“The parties dealt fairly and honestly with each other to the benefit of all our constituent groups,” he said. “The commitment of the teachers mirrors that of the district: delivering high quality educational outcomes for the Bronxville students and community.”
