The bright lights were turned on in downtown Danbury in a Saturday evening event. The event was centered at the Danbury Library. The sound of a blaring fire truck horn could be heard as it delivered Santa to the library along with Mrs. Claus and an Elf to meet with waiting kids as well as Mayor Mark Boughton.
The lights across Main Street — in the shape of a star with rows draped along the sides — are new this year. They are designed to resemble the decorations used in Danbury in the 1950s.
The crowd was entertained by Christmas Carols sung by students in the children's choirs from St. Joseph's Church and St. Peter’s Church.
After the caroling, kids shared their Christmas wishes with Santa and collected a candy cane from Mrs. Claus.
The event ended on a relaxing note, with Christmas music playing and families strolling on the warm evening for a fun night of Christmas spirit.
