Ruth Peters Doyle, 92, Of Bronxville

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- Ruth Peters Doyle, of Bronxville, died Monday, Oct. 26 at Meadowview at The Wartburg in Mount Vernon. She was 92.

Doyle was the daughter of Philip Pavey Peters and Elda Beary Peters.

She was born June 6, 1923, in Allentown, Pa. Doyle was a 1945 graduate of Skidmore College. She was married to Dr. Henry W. Doyle Jr., of Bronxville, for 53 years until he passed away in 1998.

Doyle is survived by sons, Rick of Atlanta, Ga., and Peter, of Bronxville.; daughters, Cathy Denniston, of Amherst, N.H., and Tia Colangelo, of Wilmington, N.C., and Waltham, Vt.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

"Ruey," as she was called by her family and many friends, devoted her life to her family, her community, and her church. She was a member of the Consistory of The Reformed Church of Bronxville and the Bronxville School Board, and served as a training volunteer at Jansen Hospice & Palliative Care for 11 years, as well as a volunteer at the New York Botanical Garden.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Service of Celebration and Praise at The Reformed Church of Bronxville, 180 Pondfield Road in Bronxville, to be scheduled later in the year.

A short service of remembrance will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Meadowview at The Wartburg, 1 Station Plaza, Mt. Vernon for Meadowview residents and staff.

Interment will be private.
