Robert Hartley O'Connor, 90, Of Bronxville

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Robert Hartley O'Connor, of Bronxville and Shelter Island, died on Jan. 14. He was 90.

O'Connor was born in Kansas City, Mo., to A.H. O'Connor and Mildred M. O'Connor. He attended Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood, N.J., served in the Navy aboard destroyer escorts in World War II and graduated from Yale in 1948. The university's Aurelian Honor Society has named its scholarship in his memory.

After graduation, he had a 30-year career in sales and marketing with IBM in Hartford, Albany and New York.

O'Connor is survived by his wife, Julia Sturges O'Connor; his children, Sandra O'Connor, Russell O'Connor and Linda Casertano; sons-in-law Edwin Hydeman and Drew Casertano; grandsons Alexander and his partner Renee Bissell, Tyler Casertano and his wife Annie, and William Casertano.

The funeral service previously scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 28, at Christ Church in Bronxville has been postponed until the spring.
