Dr. George W. Brooks, 95, Of Bronxville, General Surgeon, Lawrence Hospital

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - Dr. George W. Brooks of Bronxville died Dec. 17. He was 95.

Dr. Brooks was born and raised in Elmira, N.Y. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan where he also received his medical degree in 1943. He served as a medical officer in the United States Army and his surgical practice spanned 40 years in Bronxville. He moved to Bronxville with his family in October, 1949 and set up his practice of general surgery at Lawrence Hospital. He was a member of the Westchester Surgical Society and the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Brooks is survived by his second wife, Carol Taylor-Brooks; daughter, Martha Neumeister (James); three grandchildren; three great-grandsons; his second wife's children, Catherine Hawkins, Elizabeth Aherne, Suzanne Singson, Dr. John Taylor; and nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his first wife, Ann P. Brooks.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at Christ Church Bronxville. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira.
