It's Last-Minute Shopping Time in Eastchester

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – With Christmas around the corner and Hanukkah starting today, this may very well be the official start of last minute shopping.

The Bronxville Chamber of Commerce and the Eastchester Tuckahoe Chamber of Commerce, along with Bronxville Mayor Mary Marvin, Tuckahoe Mayor Steve Ecklond and Town of Eastchester Supervisor Anthony Colavita, share a holiday wish that residents will shop local.

But what if you don't know where to go or what to buy?

Try Foxes on White Plains Road in Eastchester for moms, sisters, wives, etc. Store Manager Graziella Gizzo said the store features designer labels at discount prices.

"Labels like DKNY and Michael Kors can be found with deep discounts," Gizzo said. "We carry many different sizes and styles."

The store also features things like handbags and belts, and jewelry, and offers gift certificates as well.

Don't want to think about buying clothes for someone else? How about a book?

Womraths Book Store has something for everyone with hot non-fiction sellers, such as the biographies of Steve Jobs and Jacqueline Kennedy Onasis.

Want a good mystery with your latkes or Christmas cookies? Authors James Patterson, Patricia Cornwall, Sandra Brown and Michael Connelly all have new books out for the holidays.

Shoppers can also get toys for those specials kids at Womraths.

"We have great puzzles for all ages, craft kits, games, toys made from wood. You name it we have it," said Womraths owner Wanda Sgarlata.

If all else fails, treat your loved ones to a nice dinner at any one of the local restaurants, such as Mickey Spillane's, Growlers or Haiku, all of whom sell gift certificates.

And when all of the shopping is done, the presents wrapped, and the holiday meals have been served and eaten, don't forget about the sales on Dec. 26.
