BRONXVILLE N.Y. - When looking ahead to 2013, many officials in Bronxville have high hopes and big expectations. Whether it's village development or taxpayer-relief legislation,  officials are all envisioning a very bright year.

Village Administrator Harold Porr said he would like to ease the burden on the taxpayers in Bronxville in 2013.

"I'd like to see some state legislation passed to lower taxes for Bronxville residents," Porr said. "I would like to see the schools, hospitals and churches be included in the fire hydrant maintenance fee, rather than it just be burdened on taxpayers. I'm going to meet with officials from neighboring areas in an attempt to work together and be creative to solve these problems."

Superintendent of Public Works Rocco Circosta said one of his goals is to continue upgrading the village's street lighting with more energy-efficient bulbs.

"I researched all the technologies from bulbs and fixtures that have been recently released and have found something that really fits our needs and budget," he said. "We will be changing to LED bulbs, and we anticipate a savings of over 75 percent in just energy costs alone. The technology also saves money because of its low maintenance and durability over the current filament bulbs."

Bronxville Mayor Mary Marvin said her one of her goals for the new year is to devote time to the village's infrastructure.

"I want to keep improving our infrastructure because it's one of those things that always needs work," Marvin said. "We've been working on new lighting, but even more than that will be our efforts to do more with fixing pavement and landscaping. The upkeep and beautification of our village is very important, and something to keep in mind this coming year."
