Downed Pole Causes Power Outage, Detours Traffic In Allentown: Police A utility pole is down at North 15th and Utica streets in Allentown, police said Friday morning, May 17.  Authorities said it happened around 6 a.m. A power outage is affecting residents of several blocks nearby and PPL is on the scene, police said. Drivers are being asked to avoid the intersection until further notice.  Police said they will issue an update when the intersection is clear.

Crash Shuts Down I-81 On-Ramp In Franklin County A multi-vehicle accident shut down an on-ramp to Interstate 81 in Franklin County on Friday morning, May 17, according to PennDOT.  Officials said it happened on the PA 696 ramp to I-81's southbound lanes near Exit 24 in Southampton Township. The ramp was still closed as of 9:30 a.m.  It's not yet clear if anyone was hurt.

Homicide Investigation Underway In Slatington: Officials Authorities are investigating the death of a 37-year-old Slatington man.  David Hittinger was pronounced dead late on Wednesday, May 15, the Lehigh County Coroner's Office said in a release. His manner of death was ruled homicide and an autopsy is scheduled for Friday, May 17.  "At this time, I am not releasing the location of death," said Coroner Daniel A. Contractor Charged With Home Improvement Fraud In Monroe County, DA Says A Monroe County contractor is accused of pocketing tens of thousands for work he didn't perform, officials say.  The District Attorney's Office said Garry Dobson is charged with home improvement fraud, deceptive business practices, and related counts.  According to prosecutors, a pair of homeowners gave Dobson a $45,000 deposit to build an addition to their home in June of 2022.
