The certification award recognizes Lawrence's dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards.
"In achieving Joint Commission certification, Lawrence Hospital Center has demonstrated its commitment to the highest level of care for its patients who have hip and knee replacement surgery," said Jean Range, executive director, Disease-Specific Care Certification, The Joint Commission.
The hospital underwent a rigorous on-site review in its effort to obtain the certification. A Joint Commission expert evaluated Lawrence Hospital Center for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients and families, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management.
"The Joint Commission certification is a significant achievement for us and underscores the quality of our program,” said Maureen Kirk, director of The Joint Replacement Center at Lawrence. The voluntary certification process involved a multi-disciplinary team of surgeons, nurses, physical therapists and other support staff who worked together to not only meet but exceed The Joint Commission’s high standards of care.
“Our goal has always been to provide excellent treatment with an emphasis on patient education and minimizing pain after surgery. This certification should reinforce to anyone who needs their joint replaced that they can find excellent surgical services close to home – here at Lawrence Hospital,” Kirk said.
The Joint Commission is the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.
