On Wednesday, Concordia College Athletic Director Ivan Marquez announced Laura Brezovsky, who graduated in the spring, will serve as the head coach with 2012 graduate Will Deitte joining her on the sideline as an assistant coach.
Brezovsky was a four-year member of the softball team, earning All-Academic accolades three times in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. She also is the reigning Concordia Female Scholar Athlete of the Year. The catcher sported a career .253 batting average while throwing out 17 would-be base stealers.
Deitte earned a degree in business administration during his tenure at Concordia and presently is the campus admissions adviser. As a student-athlete, he was a two-year member of the golf program and ran cross country for a season. During his senior year, he was named the Concordia Director of Athletics Award winner.
“Both Laura and Will were very involved with leadership activities while studying at Concordia,” Marquez said. “They will bring a keen sense of leadership to the cross country programs.”
The new head coach added that she is eager to get the season started and to help her student-athletes excel.
“I’m excited for this opportunity,” Brezovsky said. “I can’t wait for our cross country athletes get back on campus so that we can begin our season and working each day to improve both athletically and academically.
