The students designed one quilt square each, and a few were chosen to help layout the individual squares for assembly. The third graders then worked together to tie all the pieces of the quilt securely.
“I discussed the history of quilt making and how they go together,” Sharon Peterson, The Chapel School librarian and coordinator of the project said in a statement. “The students were excited to hear about the journey of the quilt… first to LWR’s warehouse in Baltimore, Md., then to a country in need.”
This is the second year Chapel School students have made a quilt. In 2015, two quilts were made and shipped to the Philippines for victims Typhoon Haiyan.
