TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – A speed restriction of 35 mph has been put in place on the Tappan Zee Bridge Monday because of Hurricane Sandy-related wind conditions.
Empty trailers are prohibited from traveling across the bridge at this time, The New York State Thruway said.
“To ensure motorist safety during Hurricane Sandy, a decision may be made at any time to close the bridge should conditions warrant," a news release said.
The Tappan Zee Bridge will close as winds reach between 50 and 60 mph.
