"I heard poorly rated Morning Joe speaks badly of me (don't watch anymore)," Trump tweeted. "Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year's Eve and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no."

Brzezinski responded by posting a photo of a Cheerio's box that said: "Made for Little Hands."

MSNBC responded to Trump tweet by saying in a statement, "It’s a sad day for America when the president spends his time bullying, lying and spewing petty personal attacks instead of doing his job."

Several Republican U.S. senators also took exception to Trump's tweet, as did House Speaker Paul Ryan.

"Please just stop," Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska tweeted. "This isn't normal and it's beneath the dignity of your office."

Tweeted Sen. Lindsay Graham of South Carolina: "Mr. President, your tweet was beneath the office and represents what is wrong with American politics, not the greatness of America."

Earlier, Dan Scavino, who serves as Trump's Director of Social Media and is a Yorktown native who lives in Hopewell Junction, also criticized "Morning Joe."

"#DumbAsARockMika and lover #JealousJoe are lost, confused and saddened since Donald Trump stopped returning their calls," Scavino tweeted on his personal  Twitter account. "Unhinged."

Scavino later retweeted Trump's attack on Brzezinski. Brzezinski and Scarborough got engaged last month.

It's not the Ifirst time Trump has made a reference to blood and a female TV personality. At a 2016 presidential debate, NBC News' Megyn Kelly, then at Fox News, Trump about disparaging comment he's made about women, including using the word "pig."

Days later, discussing the question, Trump said in a TV phone-in interview of Kelly. "She starts asking me all sorts of ridiculous questions, and you could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever."

Like Brzezinski, Kelly, a Rye resident, lives in Westchester.

Trump, who owns the $19 million Seven Springs estate in Bedford, also owns Trump National Golf Club Hudson Valley in Stormville and Trump National Westchester in Briarcliff Manor.

The Trump name also adorns Trump Tower At City Center in White Plains, Trump Plaza in New Rochelle, Trump Park Residences in Yorktown and the Donald J. Trump State Park on the Westchester/Putnam border.
