Dorothy Lepore, 42, a former math teacher at the Tuckahoe Middle and High School, was arraigned on Tuesday on a felony complaint that charged her with one felony count of grand larceny after she allegedly stole money that had been raised by clubs at the middle school.
Lepore served as the treasurer for the student government’s “G.O.” account, and failed to deposit more than $25,000 that were raised by students. A joint investigation by the Eastchester Police Department and the county’s District Attorney’s office resulted in the suspect coming forward and surrendering herself to police on Thursday.
The former teacher faces a maximum of seven years in prison. Lepore was released on her own recognizance on Thursday after surrendering. The Deputy Chief of the Public Integrity Bureau, Brian Conway, an assistant district attorney, is prosecuting Lepore.
