On Tuesday, Bronxville Police Det. Sgt. Richard Anderson announced that officers have arrested and charged both 33-year-old Fidencio Abreu and Franklin Mateo, 21, with felony counts of second-degree attempted burglary for an incident dating back to last year.

According to police, on Sept. 21 last year, an elderly female resident on Fordal Road made an emergency 911 call stating that two men had just pried the rear door of her residence and attempted to gain entry before she heard the noise and confronted them.

Once confronted by the resident, Abreu and Mateo took off on foot, fleeing in a dark colored sedan, Anderson noted. The attempted burglary launched a five-month investigation that concluded last week, when the two suspects were arrested on Wednesday, March 1. Both suspects are due back in court later this year.
