The unprecedented $1.5 billion Powerball lottery will be drawn on Wednesday night at 10:59 p.m. The record jackpot swelled after Saturday's $900 million jackpot did not produce a winner.

Despite the long odds, Southern Westchester residents are already thinking about how they would spend the money.

Carol Bloom Stevens, a Rye resident, bought tickets for the last two Powerball drawings and said she plans to play again.

"If I were to win I would like to buy my 87-year old mother a home in Florida and buy a property where I could house all the dogs languishing in shelters -- that no one wants to adopt -- and give them lots of love," Stevens said.

Joan Grangenois-Thomas, a Port Chester resident, played $6 in tickets and won $8 on Saturday.

"This jackpot is crazy," Grangenois-Thomas said. "I would donate to different charities, invest, help out closest family and friends and buy a house on Martha's Vineyard."

Colette Connolly, a Bronxville resident, said she plans on playing Wednesday's jackpot.

"If I win, I would do a lot of traveling, pay off my mortgage and other bills and invest the rest of it for my kids' education, my own retirement, help out some family members, etc," Connolly said.

JoAnne Murray, a Tarrytown resident, said she never buys lottery tickets, but had to get in on the action, buying $20 worth.

"I emailed my son and two daughters and told them if I win , everyone can retire and we can all travel around the world," Murray said. "It started lots of dialogue about what they would do with their share. "
