Thirty-Two Bronxville Students Selected for All-County Ensembles

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- Thirty-two Bronxville students were selected for All-County Ensembles by the Westchester County School Music Association for its 2016 Elementary and Intermediate Festival concerts held March 5 and 6 at SUNY Purchase.

The Elementary Festival included the following:

Orchestra:

Fourth-grade cellists, Susanna and Ria and fifth-grade violinists Saya and Eugene. 

Band:

Fifth-grader Aidan (French horn) and sixth-graders Lauren Giuriceo (clarinet), Carl Tamussino (trombone) and Alice Vranka (clarinet)

Chorus:

Fifth-grade sopranos Isabela, Katie, Ava and Anabelle; fifth-grade altos Ava, Ruthanne and Naischa; sixth-grade sopranos Maggie Lockwood and Cate Spitz; and sixth-grade altos Ella Gottlieb, Lucy Jackson and Charlotte Yerkes. 

“We are very proud of our musicians and singers," Bronxville Elementary School Principal Tricia Murray said. 

“This is a wonderful opportunity for them to showcase their talents.” 

The Intermediate Festival included the following:

Seventh-grade violinists George Daher and Elaina Poulos, eighth-grade cellist Sabrina Mellinghoff and ninth-grade oboist Sophia Sulimirski. 

Band: 

Eighth-grade trumpeter Theo Sperber. 

Chorus:

Seventh-graders Megan Barker (soprano), Annabelle Krause (alto), Caroline Palermo (soprano), Safiya Patel (alto) and Izaak Thoms (tenor), eighth-grade baritone Xavier Layton and ninth- grade soprano Lily Vorbach. 

The instrumentalists were chosen by the WCSMA on the basis of auditions at last spring’s New York State School Music Association Solo Festival, where they were required to perform a solo piece, sight-read and play scales. 

The singers were chosen by their school’s choral director on the basis of skills and interest.
