Bronxville DAR Member Honored At Historic Marble Schoolhouse

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- The Eastchester Historical Society honored Anne Hutchinson-Bronxville Chapter DAR member Kathryn Hefti - the widow of former Comissioner of Planning and Community Robert T. Hefti - at its Annual Fall Fundraiser.

Festivities at the historic Marble Schoolhouse opened with Eastchester Town Historian Richard Forliano presenting Hefti with the inaugural Eastchester Historical Society Covenant Award for her lifelong contributions to the support and promotion of American History education, research and preservation and her academic contributions to American History's archival integrity. The award also came in celebration of ancestors such as Henry Fowler, who helped settle the town in 1664.

Eastchester Town Supervisor Anthony S. Colavita awarded Hefti a Proclamation in recognition of her lifelong contributions to local historic and civic efforts. Colavita declared it Virginia Hefti Day throughout the town.

Westchester County Legislator Sheila Marcotte presented a Proclamation from the Westchester County Board of Legislators to Hefti in recognition for her achievements. Marcotte also declared it Virginia Hefti Day throughout Westchester County. 

New York State Sen. Jeffrey D. Klein presented her with a certificate of merit from the New York State Senate in recognition of her lifelong contributions to both historic and civic causes throughout the state.
