EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Hundreds of local shoppers flooded Bronxville this weekend as the village celebrated the outdoor return of the popular farmers market over the weekend.

The market, which was established in June 2002 by Mary Liz Mulligan, who serves as manager, had a triumphant return to its location at Stone Place and Paxton Avenue with several new vendors that have been added to the roster for the spring and summer seasons.

The outdoor market is open, rain or shine, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on every Saturday through Nov. 21. The Bronxville Farmers Market is a member of the state’s Market Federation, with all vendors participating in senior assistance programs.

Unlike many markets in the area, every vendor at the Bronxville Farmers’ Market is from the Hudson Valley and are members of the state’s Department of Agricultural Market. Goods available range from fresh produce, grass-fed meats, baked goods, dog treats and flowers.

This year, on the fourth Saturday of each month while the market is open, representatives from Cornell Cooperative Extension’s “Ask the Master Gardeners” initiative will be on hand to answer gardening questions for those with a green thumb.

"Your favorite vendors will be back, and although spring took its time, it has finally sprung," Mulligan said. "The recent warm weather and sunny days have really done wonders for growing."
