The Milburn Street training studio was founded earlier this year by Lily Martin, who also serves as the head trainer. Lyte Body Fitness specializes in one-on-one fitness instruction and smaller group classes.
Martin, who has a master’s degree in exercise science, has been training in lower Westchester for more than a decade. She said helping clients recreate themselves is the best part of her position.
“Helping people has always been my passion. To see someone transform right in front of your eyes is very gratifying and rewarding,” she said. “My philosophy has been to connect [clients’] mind and body in order to create an efficient, dynamic and anatomically correct workout.”
The 2,000-square-foot studio is unlike a conventional gym and stresses the importance of a clients’ body, as opposed to machines, bulky weights and equipment Martin called the body “the best piece of equipment they can use.”
Martin opened her first studio in Tuckahoe, Life Force Fitness, in 2010, working in the same capacity she does at Lyte Body. When she decided to expand her practice, she had to look no further than neighboring Bronxville to find an accommodating location.
According to Martin, she sought to establish a space where clients could be treated through mindful movement, enhanced body awareness and corrective integrated exercise.
“I needed to expand my practice and was fortunate to find the perfect space. It had to be renovated from top to bottom, but it had a lot of potential,” she said. “I look forward to expanding my knowledge and passing that information along to my clients.”
