You have to wonder where the minds of the so called "climate change" people are. If the pipeline is not completed, Canada will sell their oil to China who doesn't care about what the environmentalists say. That oil will be used by them to keep their economy humming while our economy suffers due to high energy costs and imported oil. Sure, it would be great if we could use alternative energy sources, but they are years away from being profitable. View Comment
This law doesn't make us safer. Criminals do not obey the law. NYC already has one of the toughest handgun laws in the country and it does nothing to prevent criminals from obtaining them. I'm sure that the legislators in Albany are congratulating themselves and the Governor will use this law to promote his presidential aspirations but it would not have stopped any ot the killings. Doing thorough background checks and monitoring the mentally ill to keep guns (any kind) out of their hands was all we really needed. View Comment
I would like to thank Supervisor Murphy and the whole council for their excellent work done during these trying times. Fighting with NYSEG and keeping us informed about current conditions around town was no easy task. Also, thank you to our town public safety and highway departments for their excellent work. All of you make me proud to live in the great town of Somers. View Comment
The state's response to any snowstorm has been horrible. Rt. 684 is always a mess and seems to be the last to be plowed or salted. They have to be held accountable but they won't be, as their union will protect them. View Comment
First, calling a candidate a twit or a liar is a typical liberal tactic when they have nothing to back up their claims. Second, all I have been hearing from the left is that Romney has not laid out the specifics of his plans. Have we ever heard the President's specifics? He is very good at talking in generalizations and telling us what he wants to do but never tells us how and we all know how his promises of 2008 are going. Talking strong and dynamic as one person here says is not a reason to elect someone, deeds and experience are. View Comment
Maloney is a carpetbagger from NYC. He has no connection to the Hudson Valley and is being suported by Soros because he could'nt raise any funds on his own. As far as the Affordable Care Act, it should be repealed as it will cost consumers more and force the closing of hospitals. It will limit senior citizens in the care they need by reducing the already low reinbursments to hospitals and doctors by taking from Medicare to pay for Obamacare. View Comment

I love your left wing talking points. You think the President is a statesman? Take a good look at his background (no, not the MSNBC version) and see who and what he has been involved with in his past. This man came to the Presidency the least qualified and the least experienced person to ever hold the office and it shows. Also, you have no idea what a venture capitalist is. Bain Capital saved more companies than closed (over 80%). Ever hear of Staples? Without people willing to invest in the country and it's businesses there could never be growth in the economy. Since when is making money evil? All the assumptions you make concerning Mitt's mindset and career goals are made up garbage which you cannot back up with facts.
But I am sorry to confuse you with the facts as your mind is already made up. Research the facts first and putdown the Kool Aid. View Comment
We need a change. This country can't afford another four years of this President and his failed policies. He can't run on his record but says give him more time for those same failed policies to work. Are you kidding me?
The President had 2 years when the democrats controlled both houses of congress and the executive branch and could not even pass a budget. All we got was a huge grab at contolling the health care (insurance?) industry, which the Supreme court calls a tax, and a failed stimulas bill that cost the taxpayers almost a trillion dollars. We can't continue to kick the deficit down the road and leave it for our kids and grandchildren to deal with. View Comment
Higher minimum wages kill jobs. Public sector unions' pension and health benefits are bankrupting goverments. Sen. Ball understands this and has done a good job for his district in Albany. The Democrats just continue to pander to the unions for their votes and would just continue to raise taxes to cover their promises. View Comment
As a regular at the former Muscoot Inn and having dined at the new Muscoot Tavern, all I can say is the food has gone down hill considerably. My wife and I ate there several weeks ago and had one of the worst dining experiences in our lives. The food was terrible. The only good things about the new place is that the much needed facelift is a success and the service was good. View Comment
