Scarsdale residents received a notification on Wednesday alerting them that Popham Road will be closed in both directions between Lockwood Road and School Lane all day on Saturday, Sept. 16 to facilitate necessary work Con Ed needs to complete in the public right-of-way.

Officials said that the work involves upgrading gas infrastructure to support Scarsdale current and future needs. The closure may continue into Sunday if the conditions warrant. Proper signage and a traffic plan has been put in place. Detours will be posted and there will be police officers at the scene to help direct traffic safely and smoothly.

“Con Edison has been working on a public right-of-way project on Popham Road between Lockwood and School Lane in recent days,” officials noted. “Their work has resulted in single-lane closures and related detours around the work site, though traffic has continued to flow reasonably well through the heavily traveled corridor. Similar work will continue up until the road closure this weekend.
