Number 15 Concordia Men's Tennis Captures Cacc Regular Season Title

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The 15th-ranked Concordia Clippers men's tennis team captured the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Regular Season Championship on Tuesday afternoon after earning an 8-1 win over Caldwell University at the Meyers Tennis Center.

Concordia began with a sweep in doubles play as the number one duo of senior Ofir Ginat (Raa'nana, Israel) and sophomore Jui Mao (Taipei, Taiwan) defeated Lucas Andrada and Alberto Gasco, 8-1. The number two duo of senior Lorenzo Montegiorgi (Velletri, Italy) and freshman Luca Corigliano (Heppenheim, Germany) would also claim an 8-1 victory as they were victorious against Lucas Bottari and Maximilian Ziegler while the number 3 duo of freshman Alessandro Evangelisti (Latina, Italy) and freshman Maxton Cook (Southampton, England) claimed an 8-2 win against Pedro Vizcaino and Andrej Bozovic.

In singles play Mao would take a 6-2, 0-6, 6-3 win in his number one match against Gasco while Montegiorgi edged out a 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (3) victory against Andrada in his number two match. Corigliano would also play into a third set tiebreaker as he captured a 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (4) win in the number three match against Bottari. Both Ginat and Cook would take their respective singles matches in straight sets as Ofir defeated Bozovic 6-2, 6-1 in the number four match while Maxton claimed a 6-0, 6-1 victory in his number six match against James Bojko. The only defeat on the day for the Clippers came in the number five match as Evangelisti would be retired 1-0 against Vizcaino. 

With the match win, Concordia (10-4, 6-0 CACC) finished their CACC schedule with a 6-0 record and will be the top seed in the upcoming CACC Championship Tournament. The Clippers will close out their regular season competition on Thursday afternoon with a showdown at number 34 NYIT. The East Regional showdown will begin at 3 p.m. in Old Westbury, N.Y.
