With a late push, led by some of their top athletes, Lake Isle claimed victory over Wykagyl with a final tally of 301-253, claiming their first county title in three years.

The victory makes Lake Isle “Triple Crown” winners, as the undefeated division one, county and conference championship team, according to swim coach Kevin Lavelle, who noted that this feat has only been accomplished three times – all by Lake Isle.

Lavelle highlighted the performances of Claire Weinstein, Theresa Pace and Nick Torres, who each set new team records at the 90th annual Westchester County Swim Championship.

Weinstein broke the girls 8 and under 25-yard butterfly record, setting a new conference record with a time of 15.23 seconds, while Pace set the team’s 17 and under record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.51. Torres set three team records for boys 14 and under, in the 100-yard freestyle (47.74), 100-yard backstroke (52.75) and 100-yard butterfly (53.19) – setting conference records in the freestyle and backstroke.

“I (have to) thank everyone once again for all the help and support this summer,” Lavelle said to the swimmers and their parents. “It has been a fast, successful and fun season. Enjoy the school year, and (we’ll be back) in June.”
