The male winner was Michael Nobles, a Bronxville resident, and the first female winner to cross the finish line was Katie Waters, a 1999 graduate of Eastchester High School, who now lives in Florida. She is also the sister of Eastchester High School physical education teacher Jesse Waters.
Prizes were awarded to the top male and female finishers in 14 age groups, ranging from 12 and younger to 60-plus.
Sponsored by the Eastchester Irish American Social Club, the race raised $10,000 to support new bleachers and press box for Eastchester High School.
Water Moran III, superintendent of schools for the Eastchester Union Free School District, accepted the ceremonial $10,000 check from John Collins, president of EIASC, after the race ended.
The race was organized through a partnership of the Irish club, the Eastchester Sports Club and the Eastchester Alumni Association. The major corporate sponsor was Mickey and Molly Spillane’s Restaurants.
