Concordia's Rafael Ferreira Named Cacc Men’s Tennis Player Of The Year

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- Concordia College senior Rafael Ferreira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Year as a total of five individuals were named to the All-CACC Teams.

Ferreira is currently 9-1 overall in singles matches as he is the 31st-ranked singles player in NCAA Division II. 

Additionally, he is second in the East Region in singles while his 8-3 record in doubles has him ranked second in the East Region alongside freshman Alessandro Evangelisti (Latina, Italy) for the 15th-ranked Clippers. Rafael would also earn a spot on the All-CACC First Team as did senior Lorenzo Montegiorgi (Velletri, Italy) and sophomore Jui Mao (Taipei, Taiwan). 

Montegiorgi is 7-6 in singles action and 8-4 in doubles play as Lorenzo is the 4th-ranked singles player in the East Region and sixth in doubles with freshman Luca Corigliano (Heppenheim, Germany). Mao is currently 9-4 in singles and in doubles as he is the 28th-ranked singles player in the nation and first in the East Region. 

Along with senior Ofir Ginat (Raa’nana, Israel) the duo is eighth in DII for doubles and first in the East Region as the pair captured the NCAA Division II Doubles Title at the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships this past fall. On the All-CACC Second Team are Evangelisti and Ginat. Alessandro is sixth in the East Region for singles play with a 7-2 overall record and in doubles is 8-2 with a ranking of second in the East Region with Ferreira. 

Ofir is 7-4 in singles action and has a ranking of fifth in the East Region while holding a 9-4 record in doubles as both him and Mao are eighth in the nation and first in the East Region. Concordia will close out their CACC regular season schedule later this afternoon as the Clippers will host Caldwell University at 3:30 p.m. at the Meyers Tennis Center.
