BRONXVILLE, N.Y. The Concordia College Clippers womens basketball team snapped its six-game losing streak Tuesday, defeating Nyack College 82-60 for its second win of the season.
Concordia (2-7, 1-2 in league) jumped out to an early lead and held a 15-3 advantage just five minutes into the game. After Nyack cut the lead in half, Concordia extended its lead to double digits again in the second quarter.
Senior Chanessa Blakemore (Albany, N.Y.) scored five straight points for the Clippers to give them their double digit lead back with 5:49 left in the game. Concordia turned to its three-point shooting in the closing minutes to extend the lead and roll to a 22-point victory.
Krystina Agard (Queens, N.Y.) and Blakemore each scored 23 points on a combined 13-of-22 shooting from the field and a combined 18-of-23 from the foul line. Blakemore recorded a game-high 20 rebounds, five steals and three blocks.
Tara-Ann Rock (Queens, N.Y.) came off the bench to score 10 points and chip in with four rebounds and three steals.
The Clippers will be back in action Thursday for a conference game against visiting Caldwell College at 5 p.m.
