Concordia Women Rally, Fall to Felician

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Down by 17 points early, the Concordia women’s basketball team mounted a comeback but fell just short Wednesday in an 84-78 loss to visiting Felician College.

The Lady Clippers fell to 6-14 and 5-8 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play and will play next when they host Philadelphia University Saturday at 2 p.m.

Felician took an early five point lead after back-to-back three-point baskets and used a 20-2 run to forge 28-11 lead with 9:51 remaining in the first half. The Clippers stepped up their offense and cut the deficit to 43-35 by halftime.

The Clippers opened the second half strong and cut the Felician lead to a point, but the visitors rallied back with a 7-0 spurt to regain the lead for good. Concordia got as close as three points late in the second half.

Kristina Agard led the Clippers in scoring with 18 points, including a perfect 14 of 14 from the free throw line. Chanessa Blakemore chipped in with 17 points and 18 rebounds for her 12th double-double of the season.

Sade Jones and Mariah Berry both finished the game in double figures as they scored 15 and 12 points respectively for Concordia.
