BRONXVILLE, N.Y. The Concordia College Clippers womens volleyball team completed its season Tuesday with a 3-2 victory over visiting faced Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Felician College, falling just short of qualifying for the postseason playoffs.
The Clippers (7-19, 7-12 CACC), who fell just one game short of securing a playoff spot this season, held the Golden Falcons to only 13 points in the first set and 17 in the second set to open a 2-0 advantage.
Felician, winless this season, held on for a 25-23 wins in both the third and fourth sets before the Clippers pulled out a 15-12 win in the fifth set to take the match.
Amanda Margedant (La Habra Heights, Ca.) and Juliann Gillespie (Clarkston, Mi.) led the Clippers offense with 16 kills apiece. Hillary Hoffman (East Meadow, N.Y.) recorded 24 assists and Alicia Vogel (Huntington Beach, Ca.) added 20 assists while Gillespie finished with a team-high nine digs on the defensive end for Concordia.
Gillespie led the team with 175 kills this season, while Hoffman recorded 557 assists and 217 digs for the year.
