Concordia Men's Tennis Captures Seventh Straight Cacc Championship With Win

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- The 15th-ranked Concordia College men's tennis team captured their seventh straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship on Sunday afternoon with a 5-1 win over Chestnut Hill College.

The match began with doubles play as senior Ofir Ginat (Raa'nana, Israel) and sophomore Jui Mao (Taipei, Taiwan) took an 8-2 victory in their number one match against Pierre Koehler and Jonathan Ducreto. The number two duo of freshman Luca Corigliano (Heppenheim, Germany) and senior Lorenzo Montegiorgi (Velletri, Italy) secured an 8-4 win over Lucas Bocaletto and Pedro Regalin while the number three duo of freshman Alessandro Evangelisti (Latina, Italy) and freshman Maxton Cook (Southampton, England) claimed an 8-1 victory against Kevin Taylor and Henry Boyle in the number three match to sweep doubles. 

Mao would then earn a 6-4, 6-3 victory against Bocaletto in the number one singles match while Cook fell in his No. 6 match 7-5, 6-1 against Boyle as the Griffins won their first match of the afternoon. Ginat's 6-3, 6-3 victory would give the Clippers the 5-1 victory as Concordia captured the match win for their seventh straight CACC Championship title. 

The remaining matches were in progress and went unfinished as Concordia held leads in each singles match. Following the match, Evangelisti was named the tournament's MVP as well as being named to the CACC All-Tournament Team along with Corigliano, Ginat, and Mao. 

The Clippers (12-4) will now wait until Tuesday, May 3 at 8 p.m. for the NCAA to announce their seeding and matchups in the NCAA East Regionals. Fans can watch the NCAA Selection Show at this link to find out the entire bracket in NCAA Division II Men's Tennis.
