Concordia Men's Tennis Blanks Sciences

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia men’s tennis team evened its record at 4-4 Sunday in a 9-0 victory over the University of Sciences in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference league opener at Meyer Tennis Center.

The No. 1 doubles Daniele Piladu (Cagliari, Italy) and Thomas Olfans (Opole, Poland) and the No. 3 team of Richard Frey (Curitiba, Brazil) and Mark Mozer (Brest, Belarus) each won their matches 8-1 to begin the day. Andrea Lindel (Helsingborg, Sweden) and David Tisserand (Lyon, France) finished the doubles competition with an 8-4 victory as the Clippers held a 3-0 overall lead heading into singles play.

Concordia did not allow the Devils to win any games in three of the six singles matches. Piludu would win his No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-0, while Mozer, at No. 4 singles, and Olfans, at No. 5 singles, would win in straight sets as well 6-0, 6-0.

Tisserand lost one game at No. 3 singles in a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Lindel won his first set 6-1 but had to work for his second set victory. He would eventually put away his opponent at No. 2 singles 6-4 as Concordia completed the sweep.

Frey's opponent would make him earn the win in the first set at No. 6 singles.
