Concordia Basketball Hosts '2nd Jimmy Sayegh Game'

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Members of Concordia College Clippers men’s basketball team will remember former player Jimmy Sayegh when they open the 2011-12 season with a game against the NYIT Bears on Wednesday, Nov. 16

Concordia and its fans will honor “Big Jim,” who lost his battle with cancer last year, in the 2nd Annual Jimmy Sayegh Game at the school’s Meyer Athletic Center. Sayegh, a Scarsdale resident who was known as a friendly, courteous and hardworking young student-athlete, joined the men’s basketball team at Concordia in 2007. As a 6’9’’ accomplished basketball player at nearby Edgemont High School, Sayegh did not go unnoticed in the community, excelling at academics, athletics and health challenges while enrolled in Concordia’s Biology program.

The Concordia family will honor Sayegh’s memory prior to the start of the game and offer a 50-50 raffle with proceeds being donated to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. The tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
