BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – While wrapping up her junior year and preparing for one final tour next fall at Bronxville High School, track and field star Mary Cain found time to qualify for the women’s final at the U.S.A. Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Cain didn’t shatter any records or reach her best personal time – but Cain’s 4:11.48 finish in the 1,500-meter event was good enough to qualify the 17-year-old for the finals at Drake university in Des Moines, Iowa.
The soon-to-be high school senior, who holds nearly every girl’s amateur record in the 800 through 5,000-meter races finished second overall in the race. She will compete in the 5,000-meter event at Drake University on Sunday.
