Bronxville's Cain Running Fifth Avenue Mile In New York

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- Bronxville native Mary Cain will run in the Fifth Avenue Mile in New York on Saturday, Sept. 13.

Cain, a freshman at the University of Portland, runs professionally for the Nike Oregon Project and is coached by distance running legend Alberto Salazar. 

Cain won the world junior title at 3,000 meters in July. The Fifth Avenue Mile, which is hosted by New York Road Runners, features some of the world's top runners. The women's professional race is scheduled to start at 12:45 p.m. 

Cain was a running standout at Bronxville High School before moving to Oregon to train with Salazar.
