BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Bronxville’s Mary Cain has set another record.
By finishing second in the 1,500-meter run at the USA Track and Field Championships in Iowa last weekend, Cain became the youngest American to make a world championship team.
Cain – who holds every high school record from the 800 to 1,500-meter event – will begin her senior year at Bronxville High School in the fall. She will compete with Team USA at the World Championships in Russia this August.
“This is the greatest country in the world,” Cain told media at the championship. “We’d been talking about it, and I really wanted to get a uniform, that’d be so exciting.”
