BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- Bronxville High School's Mary Cain, an Olympic Trials qualifier in both the 800- and 1,500-meter runs, will head a group of top track and field athletes representing the school at Friday and Saturday's New York State Public Schools Track and Field Meet at Cicero North High School in Syracuse.
Emilie Hoffer, a middle distance runner, qualified in the 3,000-meter run and joins teammates Meredith Rizzo, Courtney Campbell and Hillary Rizzo as qualifiers in the 4x800 relay. The foursome qualified with a season best 9:26.08, the best time in Section 1, which includes Rockland, Westchester and Putnam counties, this season. Hoffer's time of 10:17.89 in the 3,000 was a personal record and fourth all-time best in Bronxville history.
Campbell ran a 2:15.15 in the 800-meter state qualifier and will join Cain representing the Broncos.
Clare Sargent also qualified in the shot put with a throw of 35-feet, 1 1/2 inches, fourth best in school history.
