Gay, whose home is the Siwanoy Golf Country Club in Bronxville, recorded a 73 on the first day of the 36-hole tournament and followed with a 72 for the 5-over par total, six shots better than second-place finisher Anthony Colombino of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
"This wasn't a great tournament, but I have never won a tournament before, so I was happy to finally win one," Gay said. "I am going to play some tournaments nearby over the next few weeks, but the big tournament that I'm playing is an American Junior Golf Association event in Maine on Aug. 18-21."
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour was founded in 2008 to provide junior golfers ages 11-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of four age divisions: boys 15-18, boys 11-14, girls 11-14 and girls 15-18.
