Bronxville Girls Sweep
County Cross Country Meet

Bronxville coach Jim Mitchell will have his cross country team at the New York State Qualifier at Bowdoin Park Friday.

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. ‒ Kaitlyn Ryan continued her strong season Thursday,  leading Bronxville High's girls cross-country team to a sweep of varsity, junior vartsity and freshmen events at the Westchester County Championships at Croton Point Park.

Ryan placed sixth overall in the 36-team field with a time of 14:53 over the 2.5-mile course. Teammate Hillary Rizzo was close behind in ninth at 15:10, Argentian Chrappa was 10th at 15:15 and Courtney Campbell 12th in 15:18.

"The top five varsity girls finished within 29 seconds of each other and led the team to a 92 point victory," Bronxville coach Jim Mitchell said. "Special congratulations to Amelia (Phillips) for her victory in the junior varsity race."

Bronxville scored 40 points, Fox Lane was second with 132 and Somers had 140. The junior varsity took the first four spots overall to win its title with 17 points, 54 points better than Dobbs Ferry. Phillips (16:01), Veronica Walsh (16:22), Nicola Phillips (16:56) and Emma Watters (17:12) were the top four finishers.

Meagan Scotti (11:25) took second overall, Katharine Marrinan (11:30) was third and Catharine Cain (11:34) placed fifth to lead the Broncos to victory in the freshmen race.

Bronxville will compete in the New York State Qualifier Friday at upstate Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls..
