Bronxville Girls Excel at Mitchell Invitational

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Bronxville girls’ indoor track team, led by Mary Cain and two relay teams, made coach Jim Mitchell proud once again Saturday by excelling at the Jim Mitchell Invitation Meet held at the 168th Street Armory in the first meet of the season.

“It was a great first meet to start the indoor season with excellent runs by all and especially strong 4x200 and 4x1500 relays,” Mitchell said. “And nice hurdle races by Ana (Timoney) and Fiona (Roediger) and good 1000-meter and 300-meter runs.”

Cain, who just completed another championship cross country season along with the repeat state champion Broncos girls cross country team, ran to a new Section 1 record in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:49.58. Delia Hayes placed sixth, Argentina Chrappa 11th and Morgan Nobles 16th for Bronxville.

All four runners, Courtney Campbell, Nicola Phillips, Hilary Rizzo and anchor Meredith Rizzo, each set personal records in her leg as the Broncos 4 X 1,500-meter relay team placed fourth overall in the race with a time of 20:12.76. Rizzo ran a 4:45 1,500.

Lucy Kohlhoff took third place in the 300 meter run in a time of 44.17 seconds, followed by Caroline DePaul (45.64) in 11th and Jamie Carroll (45.95) in 13th.

In the 600-meter run, Jess Tighe ran a 1:47.93 for 13th place, Claire McGonigle (1:52.55) took 25th place, Hannah Goldberg (1:56.77) was 36th and Caroline Muir      2:05.62 was 44th.

Bronxville sprinter Ana Timoney ran 09.04 seconds for third place in the 55-meters and Fiona Roediger ran 12th in 10.18.

Ana Timoney (28.3 seconds), Caroline DePaul (28.2), Jami Carroll (28.3) and Lucy Kohlhoff (27.9) took fifth place in the 4x200 Meter Relay.
