Bronxville Football Stuns Tuckahoe In 7-0 Win

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Bronxville High School football team shocked undefeated Tuckahoe High School on Saturday night with a 7-0 victory in the rivalry game.

Bronxville’s Luke Marrone, who had not played in a game since he broke both bones in his left forearm in an August practice, caught a pass early in the fourth quarter for the only touchdown of the night.

Tuckahoe accumulated 102 more yards of offense than Bronxville but turnovers and missed opportunities doomed the Tigers. Tuckahoe turned the ball over on downs in Bronxville territory three times and lost two fumbles.

The Tigers moved the ball 72 yards to Bronxville’s 12-yard line at the start of the second half but failed to score. The Broncos’ Andrew Jones stopped senior Nick Reisman on fourth down to get the ball back.

Tuckahoe had the ball at midfield with a chance to tie the game with two minutes left but Parker Lapins intercepted Michael Castracucco to seal the win for Bronxville.

To make matters worse for Tuckahoe, senior Shyheim Nixon aggravated the shoulder injury he suffered in the 27-27 tie with Haldane High School two weeks ago.

The Class D Tigers lost their first game of the season but still lead the Piner standings, which Section 1 uses to determine playoff teams.

Bronxville is second in the Class C Piner standings with 2.37 points. The Broncos trail Woodlands High School, which has 3.37 points.
