Bronxville Football Seeks Redemption At Haldane

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – It's been almost a decade since the Bronxville High School football team has had a losing record this far into a regular season, so Saturday's visit to Haldane High School in Cold Spring, N.Y., offers a chance to even the record.

The Broncos opened the season with a loss to unbeaten power Woodlands, then recovered for a 43-0 lashing of Hastings before losing again last week to Rye Country Day School, 22-7. Haldane is the defending Section 1 Class D champion, but it is reeling with three straight losses to open this season.

Bronxville (1-2) will look to quarterback Michael Dresdale, running backs Pat Bisconti and Aaron Srebnik, and receiver Matt Tormey to give the offense a lift after last week's seven-point output.

The Broncos defense has been up and down over the first three weeks, and the team has missed senior captain Luke Marrone, a receiver/linebacker and team leader, who is rehabbing a broken arm suffered in summer practice.

Coach Jeff Napolitano said after the Hastings victory that his team suffered lapses in the opening-day loss, and last week's defeat may be attributed to the same lack of good blocking and tackling.

This should be a good midseason win for the Broncos, who need a win to stay close in the Section 1 Class C playoff run with unbeaten rivals Dobbs Ferry and Woodlands.
