Bronxville Football Blanks Hastings, 43-0

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Bronxville's defense recovered from last week's mistake-filled loss to lead the visiting Broncos football team to a 43-0 victory over Hastings on Saturday.

"We had four turnovers and really gave the game to Woodlands last week," Broncos coach Jeff Napolitano said. "We missed tackles and didn't finish on defense. We talked about it a lot with the defense, and today was a better result. We can get better."

The Broncos (1-1) offense gave the defense a big lead to play with, scoring 27 points in the first half, led by halfback Pat Bisconti and fullback Aaron Srebnik, who each scored in the first quarter. Bisconti's 56-yard scamper around left end gave Bronxville a 13-0 lead.

"We are getting better each week," Bisconti said. "The offensive line really did most of the work opening holes. The defense also played very well for us."

Srebnik, who led the blocking out of the backfield, liked the balance between pass and run as quarterback Michael Dresdale used his wide receiver Matt Tormey on several screens and tosses to open the field for the ground game.

"The running game was better and we hope we can improve, but the defense made it easy for us," Srebnik said. "The defense was very tough."

Decla Borcich, Will Duncan, Paul Licursi, Andrew Jones, Peter DeJoy and host of others keyed the Bronxville defense that kept Hastings to less than 100 yards total offense.

Tormey, a big target at 6-4, caught a 6-yard touchdown pass form Dresdale to give the Broncos a 27-0 lead.

"We talked about losing the first game and building off the loss," Tormey said. "We have a good mix on offense and we know we can play defense if we play smart. This is a good win to get us going."

Bronxville looks for its second win of the season at home against Rye Country Day school next Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Rye Country Day was beaten by Tuckahoe, 19-0, Saturday.
