Bronxville Boys Lacrosse Returns to Final Four

WEST NYACK, N.Y. – Bronxville took an early lead and once it did the Broncos secured complete control Saturday over Glens Falls in a New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class C regional final.

Bronxville raced out to a nine-goal lead at halftime and went on to a 15-2 thumping of the Section 2 champion at Clarkstown South High School.

The Broncos advance to the state final four for a second consecutive year. Bronxville will play Shoreham-Wading River, Wednesday, 3:30 p.m. at Hofstra University in a semifinal.  The winner moves into the state final, Saturday, 11 a.m., at Middletown High School, against the winner of Homer (Section 3)-Penn Yann (Section 5).

Last year, Bayport-Blue Point defeated Bronxville in a state semifinal.

Henry Grass had a hat trick and two assists and Jack Grass added two goals and three assists for the Broncos. Reilly Walsh and Brewster Warble also netted three goals apiece.

“In our games with Byram Hills and Hen Hud, we had leads at the beginning only to let them back into the game,” Henry Grass said. “We did not want it to be a close game.”

Warble and Jack Grass scored seven seconds apart, at 55 seconds and 1:02. Carl Sopczyk made the score, 2-1, at the 7:12 mark, but Henry Grass scored his first of the game 40 seconds later. This initiated a run of 12 straight Bronxville goals spanning the next three quarters.

“We don’t want to take a step back this year,” Henry Grass said. “We are keeping our eye on the prize. We want that state championship.”
